Meeting #11: Clover Petal “Using Resources Wisely”
Supplies:


·         Daisy Kit/Kaper chart
·         Snackbox
·         Empty paper towel rolls
·         Peanut butter and birdseed


Snack & Pre-Meeting:  Read Michael Recycle by Ellie Bethel or The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry

Opening & Business: Stand in horseshoe, do pledge and say Promise and Law.  Pass a daisy, say your favorite thing to do outside.

Song:
  Take My Hand and Join the Fun” (Tune: London Bridge) 
(motion: girls hold hands in circle one way, then sing again going the other)
Take my hand and join the fun,
Join the fun, join the fun,
Take my hand and join the fun,
I’m a Daisy

Daisy Circle:  What was the resource being used in the book?
• Did the characters use resources wisely? What happened if they did/didn’t use them wisely?
• Why is it important to use resources wisely?
• What was your favorite part of the story?

Talk about camp.

Activity: Make toilet paper roll birdfeeder.  Put around school grounds or in plastic baggies to take home.

Game:  “Daisy Chain” (scouts scatter through room, we congo to each girl, saying "Hey there Daisy, what's your name?" "Abby" the rest of the congo says: "Welcome Abby to the Daisy Chain!" and congos on to the next girl.

Closing: Do friendship squeeze.   Everyone says “1-2-3 Goodbye Daisy Girl Scouts” and twists out of circle.
