Daisy Circle:  Red - Courageous & Strong
·         What does courage mean?
1. Doing the right thing even if it is difficult.
2. Facing your fears with confidence – being brave.
·         What are some ways you can show courage?
1. Do the right thing, even if others are not.
2. Bravely deal with your daily challenges.
3. Be willing to try new things, even if you might fail.
4. Tell the truth regardless of the consequences.
5. Face your fears and work to overcome them.
6. Admit your mistakes and learn from them.
7. Do not give into negative peer pressure
·         Name some people who have shown courage? (Soldiers, police officers, fire fighters)
·         When have you tried something new or that you were afraid of, like riding a two-wheeler, learning to swim, going to a new school or even trying a new food?
·         What are some things you have never done, but would like to?
Talk about how it is sometimes scary to get up in front of people and that it takes "courage".  Talk about “Investiture” and that we are going to have a ceremony in front of our families in a big room.  Write out INVESTITURE on dry erase board and try to figure out meaning from “clues” in the word.  Does it mean “In a Vest”?  What does “Invest” mean?

Girls help plan Investiture ceremony:
·         Who should we invite?
·         Which song should we to sing?

·         Ask if girls want to make their Promise individually or as a group?
·         Ask if they want to include family in their Friendship Circle at end?
·         What should we serve with our ice cream sundae bar?

Activity: Decorate invitations for Investiture Ceremony.  Help make Troop Banner.  Do Daisy flower centerpieces for tables at Investiture.

Game:  “Strong”=
have girls who are involved in a sport teach the girls something (soccer= how to do stretches; dance =one dance move; swim=one swim stroke, etc.  Talk about how this is one way we keep our bodies strong.  Do Freeze Dance doing the one move they were taught, to keep our bodies “strong”.

Closing: Do Daisy Hands, ask girls questions about the meeting, having them respond with a vote from zero to five fingers.  Do friendship squeeze.  Girl starts making a wish and sending a squeeze around the circle.  When the girl who began the squeeze gets it back she says, “Goodbye Daisy Girl Scouts.”  Everyone comes to center and says “1-2-3 Goodbye Daisy Girl Scouts”.

Pass out Red Petal (Courageous & Strong)
Next Meeting:  Investiture Ceremony Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m.
